Which first aid course do you need for your workplace?
In October 2013, the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 were updated, removing the requirement for the Health and Safety Executive [HSE] to approve first aid training and qualifications. HSE approval of first aid training and qualifications has now stopped. HSE approval no longer exists for any first aid training organisations. No first aid provider should be saying “HSE Approved”.
You now have a greater degree of choice and flexibility in your training provider. However, because of the HSE changes, you need to ensure the training provider you choose is authorised, accredited and the trainer is fully qualified to teach in their subject area rather than expecting them to be able to; trainers must now hold a current teaching qualification.
When seeking first aid training you now have the responsibility to conduct reasonable investigation (Due Diligence) to ensure the provider is fit for purpose and offers robust quality assurance mechanisms. You need to investigate your choice of provider to ensure they have authorisation to conduct training (valid first aid certificates, valid teaching certificates), uphold the highest teaching standards, maintain quality assurance procedures, have well documented policies and procedures and publish the current course syllabus.
We offer a wide range of first aid and professional courses which are independently quality controlled offering you the highest confidence of governance and quality assurance. Your confidence in us is important and we only deliver courses which have training materials and assessment processes that reflect nationally recognised standards to offer you a high quality experience.
We are a registered centre with Qualsafe, ProTraining and the AoFA. We offer the highest range of choice in our regulated courses which are approved by Qualsafe Awards and AoFA, awarding organisations recognised by Ofqual to offer regulated qualifications.
Our trainers and assessors have the highest level of training and necessary skills, qualifications and competencies and all are nurses with a current Nursing and Midwifery Council [NMC] registration with extensive experience. There is a robust Quality Assurance system in place to independently verify materials and assessments [only the short course for Parents, Grandparents and Carers does not carry an externally verified certificate].
We adjust class sizes appropriate to the needs and capabilities of the group.
Certificates issued contain relevant information about the candidate and the course and they are properly awarded, monitored and your information is stored appropriately and safely.
